Dear New Brighton Families,
Two weeks in, and our students are already used to their routines and expectations inside and outside the school. The weather is allowing us to get outside as much as possible for recess, lunch recess, PE and even some community walks. It has also allowed for students and parents to ride bikes, scooters and skateboards to school, which is something that we always love to see. Please remember to be safe by wearing a helmet and always locking up your bikes.
Additionally, we kindly ask that all riders, young and old, walk their scooters, bikes, or skateboards once on school property. We've had a few near misses at the start of the year, and we want to make sure everyone stays safe.
Before the end of September, we will conduct our first fire drill of the year. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear for indoors, so they are prepared to step outside in any weather condition during a drill or real incident.
We are looking forward to another fantastic year here at NBS, filled with new memories, friendships, and learning opportunities. Our weekly Admin Messages will keep you informed about important events and updates that affect your student’s experience with us. Dogs on School Grounds
We would like to thank our dog owners who are walking their dogs to school on a leash and saying their goodbyes from the sidewalk or school ground boundaries. We truly appreciate everyone’s effort in this regard. I know it is sometimes hard to understand that our beloved companions could be intimidating to anyone, but it can often cause fear through the eyes of a young child who is unfamiliar with it.
Terry Fox Run
We will be hosting our annual Terry Fox Run at 9:00 AM on Sept. 25th. We will begin by gathering in the gym to kick it off with an assembly. At 9:40, we will head outside and start the run around the perimeter of our school field.
Parents are welcome to attend the assembly and run...please ensure that you have your CBE clearance if you choose to participate or to be a spectator for the run. Please, click here for information about donations to help us meet our goal of $2800.
School Apparel Store Now Open Online
New Brighton School Apparel is now available to order online by clicking here. All orders made in the next 16 days will have free delivery. The orange NBS Every Child Matters t-shirt will also be sold through the online store, with all profits from the sale of those t-shirts going to the Orange Shirt Society. The Orange Shirt orders must be in by September 19 to be delivered for Orange Shirt Day on October 2nd.

Open House – Meet the Teacher

🕕 Time: 6:00–7:00 p.m.
We’re excited to welcome you into our school for an evening of connection and learning! Each classroom teacher will share a short 15-minute presentation about the year ahead. To make it easier for families with more than one child, presentations will be repeated three times.
Here’s how the evening will run:
- 6:00–6:15 – Session 1
- 6:20–6:35 – Session 2
- 6:40–6:55 – Session 3
💡 You’ll have 5 minutes between sessions to move to your next classroom.

Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to New Brighton Sept 22-25/25!! Stop by and explore the fantastic collection of Scholastic books - up to 50% of funds raised will go towards purchasing books for our school library.
The fair will be open to the students Monday - Thursday during school hours, as well as during the Open House on Thursday night.
Students who have library on Monday will preview on Monday and can purchase on Tuesday. Students who have library on Wednesday will preview on Wednesday and can purchase on Thursday.

Designate a Meeting Place
To ensure safe and smooth pick-up at 3:00 p.m., please establish a designated meeting spot with your child. Students in grades 1–5 will exit through their designated doors and should go directly to this spot.
- Meeting spots should not be in the school parking lot, which is off-limits to parents and students.
- Kindergarten teachers will wait with students until a parent arrives.
- If a student does not see their parent after five minutes, they have been instructed to come to the office through the front entrance for assistance.

🍕 Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches
- Our next Fun Lunch will be Coco Brooks Pizza on Thursday, September 25th.
- Deadline: Orders close Saturday, September 14th at midnight.
- Please note: Fun Lunches are not available for Kindergarten students.
- Action needed: You must re-register your child for this school year under their current teacher.
