Dear New Brighton Families,
Welcome back to all of our NBS students and families! We were so excited to see everyone this week — it’s been a long time, and the students’ excitement and energy were the perfect way to start our return to school.
We are so grateful for your ongoing support and were truly touched by the beautiful chalk messages of encouragement on our sidewalks. This has been a challenging time for many families, and your kindness and positivity mean so much to us.
Today we hosted our Halloween Assembly, giving students and staff a chance to parade their costumes for the entire school and celebrate together. It was a wonderful way to bring our students and staff back together and spread some positivity. The energy and excitement throughout the building were fantastic — and I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling grateful that Halloween landed on a Friday this year!

Remembrance Day Assembly
Our Remembrance Day assemblies will be taking place on Friday, November 7th. We will be having two assembly times taking place that day. The first time will be 9:45 am for Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. Our second assembly will take place at 11:00 am for our Grade 3 and 5 students. Our Grade 4 classes will be singing at both Remembrance Day assemblies in place of our typical fall/winter choir. We also have students from the other grades who will be participating in this year's assembly as well.
Please feel free to attend one of the assemblies to watch your child participate. Both assemblies will be exactly the same. We have created two time slots to allow for our school students to attend one of them as well as parents and special guests, and for us not to go over our gym capacity. If you are planning on attending one of the assemblies, please keep in mind that parking may be a little busy that morning, and to give yourself extra time. Another idea, if possible, would be to walk to the school that morning to ensure you are at the assembly on time. We will be closing the gym doors at the start time to prevent any interruptions during the assembly.
Every student will receive a poppy, and we will be accepting donations on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.
