Dear New Brighton Families,

It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of October! There are lots of exciting things happening at New Brighton School, and we are looking forward to another great week of learning and fun.

On Friday, October 30th, we will be having a Costume and Pyjama Day! Students will participate in their regular learning activities, including music and physical education, so please ensure that costumes and pyjamas allow students to move safely and see clearly. Any costume accessories that resemble weapons should be left at home and saved for evening Trick-or-Treating.

We will also be hosting our Parent Council Read-A-Thon Assembly on Friday, where we will announce the winners! We are hearing some truly amazing numbers as pledge forms come in, and we are so excited to see the final results. A huge thank you to our Parent Council for organizing this wonderful event and to all the families who have supported our readers!

Next week, our Grade 3 classes will be heading to the zoo for an exciting learning experience. We will also be holding our Toonie Tuesday Popcorn Sale, so be sure to send along a toonie if your child would like to enjoy a popcorn treat!

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another great week at New Brighton School!

🎃 The Great Pumpkin Event Is Back!

New Brighton School is excited to host our Fifth Annual Great Pumpkin Event! This fun fall tradition encourages students and their families to spend time together creating and decorating a pumpkin to display in our school gathering space.

This year’s event will take place on Friday, October 30. Students are invited to bring their decorated pumpkins to school on Friday morning through the front doors. Our pumpkins will be displayed for everyone to admire, and classes will have the opportunity to view and judge the creative entries throughout the day.

Pumpkins will be judged in the following categories:

  • Scariest
  • Funniest
  • Best Scene
  • “It’s Not a Pumpkin” Pumpkin
  • Decorated, Not Carved

We ask that all pumpkins be taken home after school on Friday. Any pumpkins left behind will be discarded to prevent unwanted messes or odours.

We look forward to seeing the creativity and imagination of our New Brighton families! Start brainstorming your ideas, gather your supplies, and get ready to create a Great Pumpkin! 🎃

Fees

Central fees will be posted directly to students’ PowerSchool accounts. These fees include the student supply fee, noon supervision fee, and school bus fees for students who ride the bus daily. These fees are assigned to student accounts centrally by the CBE.

Donations Needed: Backup Pants

We are looking for donations of boys’ pants to keep at school for students who may need a change of clothing during the day. If you have any gently used or new pants that you are willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate your support!

We are especially in need of the following sizes: 5, 6, 6X, 7, 10 and 12.

Thank you for helping us ensure we have extra clothing available for our students when needed. Your generosity is always appreciated
