Dear New Brighton Families,
It has been another busy and exciting week at New Brighton School!
Our Grade 5 students led a meaningful assembly in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, learn, reflect, and honour the experiences and contributions of Indigenous peoples. We are proud of our Grade 5 students for the thought and care they put into sharing this important learning with our school. We also want to celebrate the incredible generosity of our NBS community during last week’s Terry Fox Run. Together, we raised an amazing $2,814.50 for cancer research! Thank you to everyone who donated and to our students and staff for bringing so much energy and enthusiasm to the day. Your generosity helps continue Terry’s legacy and his dream of a world without cancer.
Next week, we are excited to welcome our Bhangra dance residency to New Brighton School! Our students will have the opportunity to learn about Bhangra through movement, music and dance. We are looking forward to seeing the energy and enthusiasm this experience brings to our school.
There is also lots happening outside of the classroom! Our Parent Council is hosting a Family Dance on Thursday, and we hope to see many of our NBS families there for an evening of fun and community connection.
Finally, our Read-A-Thon started this week! We are excited to see our students diving into books and building their love of reading. We encourage families to support their children by finding time to read together, talk about books and celebrate their reading progress.
