Dear New Brighton Families,
Every year, schools across Canada host Remembrance Day assemblies to honour our veterans, past and present. Today was no exception. Our student presenters, MCs, wreath bearers, and Grade 4 choir were once again truly outstanding. My heartfelt thanks go out to Ms. Lysak and our Grade 4 students and staff for organizing such a meaningful tribute in a very short period of time. It was a ceremony that genuinely honoured our veterans and made us proud as a school community.
We hope that you and your family find some time over the upcoming break to rest, reconnect, and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought—and continue to fight—to make Canada one of the best countries in the world.
Yesterday, we also celebrated our Read-A-Thon winners at an assembly that had the students buzzing with excitement as prizes were awarded to both individual and class winners. In total, the Read-A-Thon raised over $16,700, which is an incredible achievement—especially considering it took place during a month impacted by the strike/lockout. A huge thank-you goes out to our amazing volunteer parents for the countless hours they dedicated to organizing and running this event. They have once again outdone themselves for the benefit of every student in our school.

Fall Break and Remembrance Day
A reminder that there is no school for students next Monday to Wednesday, with classes resuming on Thursday, November 13th. Monday and Wednesday are fall break days, and Tuesday is Remembrance Day.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Our Parent Teacher Conferences will go ahead as planned for the evening of November 27th and the morning of November 28th. More information will come out next Friday regarding the schedule and process for signing up online. All parents must have a MyCBE Account to sign up when the Conference Manager goes live. This year, we will once again have in-person conferences on Thursday night and Friday; families will have the option for an in-person or online conference.
Kindergarten conferences will run the entire day on November 27th, and kindergarten students will not attend that day.
