Dear New Brighton Families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Break and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We’ve certainly been lucky this fall, and it looks like the warmer temperatures will continue into the weekend.

This morning, the colder temperatures combined with mist created slippery and potentially dangerous conditions on the metal stairs near our Grade 3 and Kindergarten doors. When this happens, we put up CAUTION tape and redirect students to the next nearest entrance. If you see the CAUTION tape in place, please avoid using those stairs—even if they appear fine, they can be extremely slippery.

Next week, we return to a full five-day schedule. On Tuesday, our Grade 5 students will be selling popcorn for $2 per bag. All proceeds will go toward reducing the cost of their end-of-year field trip. Thursday is Mary Brown’s Fun Lunch, and orders need to be in by Saturday if you are interested in your child participating.

Thank you for your continued support.

Families Helping Families

We are having our 2nd annual families helping families program that will run over the next few weeks. Starting Wednesday,, November 19 until December 15th, students and families are encouraged to help make Christmas just a bit better for families in great need.

On the Christmas tree in the front office, there will be gift tags with items on each family member’s wish list. Donations can also be in the form of cash and gift cards.

Students are encouraged to talk to their parents about the items. If you can donate one or more of the items, parents can take a tag(s) from the Christmas Tree, attach it to the gift and turn it into Mrs. McMaster.  With any purchased gifts, could you please tape on a gift receipt in case the item does not fit? New items only, please, no used gifts.

These families are in great need with children that we can help support. Every little bit counts

New Brighton School has adopted 3 families in Calgary that need a little help to make their holiday season a little bit brighter. We will be posting tags on a Christmas tree in the front office, with items that can be purchased for our families. If you would like to support the families, here is what you need to do:

  • Please visit Mrs. McMaster or Mrs. Block in the office for a tag
  • Go shopping! Yay!
  • Ensure to ask for a GIFT RECEIPT before payment
  • Bring the gift back to the school (unwrapped) along with the tag from the tree, as well as the gift receipt.
  • Please - no ‘used’ items

If you would rather help by donating cash or gift cards, we can do the shopping for you!

Timeline:

Wednesday, November 19 – Tags available on the office Tree

Thursday, Dec. 11th - last chance to select a tag from the tree

Monday, Dec. 15th - Gifts that have been purchased must be brought to the school along with the gift receipt and the original tag from the tree.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. McMaster at smmcmaster@cbe.ab.ca

Thank you for your help in creating some magic this holiday season

🌟 New Brighton School Community — You Absolutely Stepped Up! 🌟

What an incredible show of generosity! Our New Brighton School community truly rallied together for this year’s Terry Fox Fundraiser and COMPLETELY BLEW AWAY our goal of $2,800.00!

Thanks to your big hearts and amazing support, we raised an outstanding $3,467.40! 🎉

Your contributions make a real and meaningful impact. The Terry Fox Foundation uses these funds to support cutting-edge cancer research, including improved treatment options, early detection, innovative clinical trials, and support for world-class scientists across Canada. Every dollar helps continue Terry’s mission of finding a cure and supporting those affected by cancer.

Thank you for honouring Terry’s legacy and showing what a strong, caring school community can achieve together. 💙

Way to go, New Brighton!
