Dear NBS Families,
Although it was a short week, we certainly made the most of it! Our Grade 3 students braved some cool weather and light rain during their visit to the zoo, while three of our Grade 2 classes explored the Bow Habitat Station. Meanwhile, our Grade 5 students participated in two engaging in-school workshops—one focused on forestry and the other on coding. On Thursday, with everyone back in the building, we held our final fire drill of the school year.
Looking ahead to next week, the remaining Grade 2 classes will head to the Bow Habitat Station to enjoy the same learning experience as their peers. We’re also excited to host our Kindergarten Orientation evening on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., where we’ll welcome the families of our incoming 2025/26 kindergarten students to New Brighton School.
We’re excited to host our Volunteer Tea on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m., and we look forward to celebrating all of our amazing volunteers!
Reminder to Pay Your Fees
If you haven’t reviewed your myCBE account recently, we kindly ask that you take a moment to log in and check for any outstanding fees. This is the platform where families pay for school field trips and activities.
Currently, we have over $2,000 in unpaid or late payments. Please note that field trips and activities are cost-neutral, meaning the school does not make a profit from them. If unpaid fees continue to accumulate, we may be forced to limit the number of trips and activities offered throughout the year.
If you need assistance accessing your myCBE account, you can click here or contact our office at 403-817-3516.
Yearbooks
Our yearbook order has been sent to the printer! To help reduce the cost, we’ve ordered a limited number of extra copies, which will be available for purchase through the main office @ 403-817-3516.
If you missed the original order deadline and would still like a copy, please contact the office as soon as possible to reserve one—quantities are limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis
Field Trips and Fun Lunches
We have several field trips scheduled during the final month of school, and some of these overlap with our Fun Lunch dates. If you’re planning to order Fun Lunch for your child, please double-check their schedule to ensure they will be at school that day.
Please note the following:
- Grade 5 students attending Outdoor School and Grade 4 students visiting Heritage Park on June 12 will be away and will not be at school for Fun Lunch.
 - Grade 1 students from Chen and Russell’s classes are going to Ralph Klein Park on June 19 will also miss Fun Lunch.

If you’ve already placed an order and your child will be away, you may contact Healthy Hunger to cancel the order or arrange to pick up the lunch at the school before 1:00 p.m. Please keep in mind that we do not have space to refrigerate unclaimed lunches.
Thank you for your understanding!
Volunteer Tea
Parents/Volunteers, we are so thankful to have you volunteering your time in our school this year. Volunteering happens in many capacities both in the school and out of the school. We would love to celebrate you on Friday May 30th and you should have received an invitation from your child this week. Please remember to email Ms. Lysak at jclysak@cbe.ab.ca to confirm your RSVP so we know how many of our amazing volunteers are intending on coming.
Thank you,
Ms. Lysak
Are You Moving?
Families or individual children who will not be returning to New Brighton School for the 2025-2026 school year are requested to let the school know as soon as possible by calling the office at 403-817-3516 ext. 0. Informing the school of your intentions to transfer will facilitate the smoothest transition possible.
