Dear NBS Families,

We are happy to say that it looks like we’ve finally turned the corner and are enjoying some much nicer spring weather! With that, we are already seeing more students riding their bikes and scooters to school. This is a great way to stay active, but we’d like to remind families to please ensure students are bringing a lock to secure their bike or scooter during the day, and that they are wearing a helmet for safety.

Thank you to all of our families who were able to join us for the Grade 2 Spring Pottery Café today. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout and to share this special event together. Our students did an amazing job showcasing their creativity and hard work, and they should be very proud of what they accomplished!

The warmer weather has also allowed us to get outside more. Our PE classes have been enjoying outdoor activities, and we’ve even had several classes take advantage of the sunshine by eating their lunch outside.

As a reminder, Tuesday, May 6th is Hat’s On for Mental Health Day. Students are encouraged to wear a hat to help raise awareness and show support for mental health.

We look forward to more days like this ahead!

School field trip fees

We are asking for your support in ensuring that all outstanding school field trip fees are paid as soon as possible. At this time, our school has over $3,000 in unpaid field trip fees. When fees remain unpaid at this level, the school must absorb the cost, which can impact our ability to offer the same number and quality of field trips in the future. If this trend continues, we may need to reduce field trip opportunities next year.

Please take a moment to log in to your PowerSchool account to check if you have any outstanding fees. Below is a summary of the current unpaid totals by trip:

  • Kindergarten – Teachers' Pet Birdhouses: $170.00
  • Grade 1 – Ann & Sandy Cross: $157.50
  • Grade 2 – Bow Habitat: $147.00
  • Grade 2 – Teacher’s Pet: $420.50
  • Grade 3 – SAM Centre: $273.00
  • Grade 3 – Felting: $369.00
  • Grade 4 – Telus Spark: $126.00
  • Grade 4 – Teacher’s Pet: $395.25
  • Grade 5 – Rothney Observatory: $176.00
  • Grade 5 – Be Brave Hitmen: $306.00
  • Grade 5 – Camp Kindle Deposit: $500.00

Total Outstanding Fees: $3,040.25

We understand that circumstances can vary for families. If you require support or need to make alternative payment arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact the school office—we are here to help.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and for supporting these valuable learning experiences for our students.
