Dear NBS Families,
This week the staff had a little fun with the students by having a Secret Spirit Week, to see how many students would catch on. The week started with Monochromatic Monday, where staff dressed in just one colour. No students caught on. Tuesday was a little more obvious with Hats and Toques Tuesday. As the name suggests staff wore a variety of hats and toques for the entire day. A few students noticed but not as many as you might think. Wednesday’s Pajama Day was more obvious, and students definitely took notice, but the staff did a good job of playing oblivious. Thursday’s, “That’s not a coffee mug,” was a big hit and became pretty clear to the students as staff drank from various containers, none of which were coffee mugs.

Kindergarten Registration for September 2025
Kindergarten registration opens on January 13, 2025. Registration is NOT first come first served. Everyone who submits a completed registration form online between January 13, 2025 and by noon February 11, 2025, will be eligible for the kindergarten lottery if we are in a situation where we have more applications than we currently have space for. We have not had to go into a lottery for the past two years but it is always a possibility in a young community like New Brighton.
For more information about kindergarten registration please visit the CBE kindergarten page by clicking here.
Parking Around the School
The Calgary Parking Authority was present this week in response to community complaints regarding unsafe driving and parking around the school. Their role is to ensure that all drivers follow parking regulations and drive safely in the area.
Please remember that if you receive a ticket in the mail from them, the school is not responsible for issuing these tickets and has no authority to rescind them. For any inquiries regarding parking violations, please contact the Calgary Parking Authority directly.
Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe!
