Dear Families,

It was a jam-packed and exciting week here at NBS! Our Grade 4 and 5 PE classes wrapped up their Ringette tournament, finishing today with a much-anticipated student-versus-staff showdown. For the third year in a row, the staff managed to hang on to victory and proudly take home the Candy Cup—much to the disappointment of our determined students!

On Tuesday, our school was buzzing as we welcomed the Earth Rangers for a high-energy presentation. Students were entertained, involved, and inspired to take action in caring for our environment. This fantastic assembly was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Nova Chemicals. Our school was selected thanks to Milan D., a Grade 5 student, whose parent, Kulwant D., works at Nova Chemicals and nominated NBS for this free event. A big thank-you to them both for making it happen!

Yesterday, two Grade 2 classes and all Grade 4 classes headed out on field trips—perfect timing as cold weather kept us indoors. Our intrepid Polar Bear Club members, however, were still able to brave the outdoors, as the wind chill remained above –25°C.

Morning Supervision Reminder:
Please note that school doors and staff supervision begin at 8:15 a.m. Students should not be dropped off or arriving to school before this time. Arriving early, especially on cold-weather days, can be unsafe as students are outside without supervision or access to the building. If you arrive early, please remain with your child until doors open and supervision begins.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Kindergarten Registration for September 2026

Kindergarten registration opened on January 12, 2026.  Registration is NOT first come first served.  Everyone who submits a completed registration form online will be eligible for the kindergarten for the 20026-2027 school year. Typically, New Brighton School holds a random draw for AM/PM placement preference as our AM classes usually have higher demand, and we need to balance our student numbers between the morning classes and afternoon classes. To be in the draw for AM/PM preferences, you will need to have your registration completed before the draw date, which is March 19, 2026. All registrations after March 19, 2026 will be placed in PM classes.
