Dear NBS Families,
We hope everyone had a restful Spring Break and was able to spend some family time together. We have been right back at it this week with our dance residence, Sound Kreations, working with our students on some exciting dances. All of our classes will be participating during their daily gym periods, and we are looking forward to the final results during their final performances next Friday (see below for the times). Once again, we would like to thank our School Council/Association for their generosity in covering the cost so our students continue to have these amazing opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.
We had our second lockdown practice of the year yesterday, and the students and staff did a great job. It is unfortunate that these types of drills have become a necessity, but being prepared for worst-case scenarios is vital in the event that we are ever faced with such an incident. Calgary Police Service officers were very impressed with our school’s response, and with every drill, we have some new knowledge to take away.
A big congratulations to our Ms. MacDonald, who is now Mrs. Tubman after being married over the Spring Break. We are sure you will join us in wishing the happy couple a wonderful life together!
Dance Residency Performance Day
Our students have been enjoying the Sound Kreations dance residency and are looking forward to sharing their new skills with a live audience. In order to accommodate our audience and performers, we will be hosting 3 separate performance assemblies. Please read the performance times carefully for your student’s time below:
- Thursday, April 10th – Kindergarten PM Performance – 12:40 -1:00
- Friday, April 11th – 9:00-10:00 K-2 students perform (except Allen’s grade 2)
- Friday, April 11th – 10:30-11:30 grade 3-5 students perform (plus Allen’s grade 2 class)
All parents must enter the building through our front doors beginning 10 minutes before the performance times. We kindly ask that you remain for the entire performance to support our students and ensure they have the audience they deserve. Your presence throughout the event means a lot to them and helps create a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Thank you for your understanding and support!
Are You Moving?
Families or individual children who will not be returning to New Brighton School for the 2025-2026 school year are requested to let the school know as soon as possible by calling the office at 403-817-3516 ext. 0. Informing the school of your intentions to transfer will facilitate the smoothest transition possible.

The next fun lunches are Subway on April 17th and Coco Brook on May 1st.
