Dear NBS Families,

We have a number of exciting updates and reminders to share with you this week!

Next week, we will be hosting a Food Bank Drive from Monday through Thursday. Donations can also be brought to our Parent Council Bingo event on Thursday evening. The grade that brings in the most donations will earn an extra recess, and the winning class from each grade will celebrate with a popcorn party. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support of our community.

With the warmer weather, we are seeing more students biking and scootering to school. Please remember to send a proper lock with your child, and as a reminder, it is the law in Calgary that all cyclists wear a helmet.

In recognition of Earth Day, we will be holding a “Blackout Day.” Students are encouraged to dress in black, and as a school, we will aim to get through the day using as little electricity as possible while engaging in unplugged learning activities.

Finally, our staff spent last Friday afternoon and again today recertifying their First Aid training to ensure we continue to provide a safe environment for all students.

Our 2025-2026 Yearbook deadline is April 30

Food Drive

New Brighton School is hosting a Food Bank Drive from April 20–24, and everyone is welcome to participate!

Simply send in non-perishable food items to the school with your student and help our donation boxes fill up.

The grade that gets the most donations will win an extra recess. Each class will be challenged to make a structure with the boxes and cans that will be judged a student leadership group. The winning class for each grade will win a popcorn party. We can not wait to see what designs the classes come up with

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for families in need. Thank you for supporting such an important cause!
